About KeKi

The Decree of 18 July 2008 on conducting a Flemish youth and children's rights policy envisages the funding of a Children's Rights Knowledge Centre (in Dutch: Kenniscentrum Kinderrechten, abbreviated as KeKi). The central objective of the Centre is to increase the knowledge on children's rights on the national and international level. The Decree of 20 January 2012 regarding a renewed youth and children’s rights policy, which entered into force on 1 January 2013, confirms this support.

The establishment of KeKi was supported by researchers associated with the following institutions: Universiteit Antwerpen, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Universiteit Gent, Hogeschool Gent and KU Leuven.

KeKi is operational since 1 January 2010, with the support of the Flemish authorities.

The Children's Rights Knowledge Centre builds on the international recognition of the Children's Rights Centre founded in 1978 by Professor Eugeen Verhellen at Universiteit Gent.

More information is available in the official brochure of the Children's Rights Knowledge Centre.
